🔥Discover of the week: #thetalismanseries

By @talismanbrett Brett Salter

I was gifted an audiobook copy of book 1, but I bought book 2 after finishing the first volume and feel like I will continue because this is a fun series.

5 stars 🌟

Elements that I love ❤️:

💜 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨: two boys middle schoolers (about 14 years old) who are quite different from each other. They descend from ancient families (Knights and Dragons who have always protected our world from evil invasion). Julian the Knight has started training since he was a very young kid, but he has been incomplete without a dragon. Rome only discovers that he is a dragon when his powers awake while trying to do mischief. He is fire and doesn't like water. Mr Julian, wise mentor who will help them more than Merlin would if he was around.

Julian is my fav character. He has a cool die that he rolls for weapons and actions, sometimes frying pans. He is brave, wealthy, confident, has a lot of knowledge, and is very funny when he goes all full nerd.

💙 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙚: connection to Camelot lore

💚 𝘼𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣: fast pacing easy to read, easy to get into kind of story.

🧡 𝙁𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙨𝙮 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙧𝙚: urban/portal fantasy. Portal but they don't go to another world (at least in book one), the portals open to bring evil and the two kids must stop it (making a mess where they live or go to school but they keep all a secret)

🩷 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨: shirt books, 6 so far available. Volume 1 is a great introduction to the series, sets the story well, and presents the characters and the vibe of the rest.

❓️first book that comes to your mind with:

A dragon.... or a knight.

COVER REVEAL NOVELLA

Author @talismanbrett️

Features Camela and Krysta (super awesome characters who are introduced in book 2) and takes place between 3 and 4.

Blurb: The Florida wetlands are hardly an ideal vacation spot for anyone.  Especially the young Synergist Knight, Camela Rider, and her Master Dragon, Krysta Valanche. Stuck on Nocturn babysitting duty and being cramped into a less-than-favorable camper with below-average amenities is not how the battle-starved Camela wants to spend her time.  She needs adventure and action, and she'll do her very best to drag Krysta along with her to find it.  But the area they patrol is a far cry from suburbia, and it sure as heck isn't Camelot either.  Everyone's favorite ice duo might be in for more than they bargained for when they trudge deep into the mashes to find ancient artifacts, violent histories, and plenty of Darkbrand fire.  Will they succumb to the savagery of the swamps?  Or will they rise above the mire and extinguish the flames of the wildfire?

Author:

My background in writing stems mostly from the inspiration I found as a kid when I read Fantasy and Sci-Fi books. These include The Chronicles of Narnia, The Xanth Novels, The Time Quintet, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and everything from Shakespeare to Dr. Seuss. In my formative years, I joined several punk rock bands and wrote songs, poetry, and short stories aplenty. As an adult (?) I took on a dare and wrote the first book in my Talisman Series. I loved the feeling it gave me and the idea of inspiring others so much that I kept writing until I had an entire series.@Talismanbrett

️Novellas are great to get into a series. Your favorite Novella is...?
